MOTION TO LIGHT This is a collaborative project between Red Bull, Snap! Orlando, the wakeboard athletes: Mike Dowdy, Adam Errington, and Dallas Friday and myself as a light painter. It is purely experimental, none of us ever did a project like this before. We mixed sports and technology to create art. The movement of the athletes...

It’s incredible to have the chance to create and collaborate on such projects. Hooking up with Timecode Lab and Eric Pare here in Montreal, I had the chance to experiment doing light painting in 360 degree. The set up is quite analog, 24 cameras on a ring in 360 exposing at the same time. So...

This is a purely artistic project. A collaboration of artist from Montreal using 24 cameras on a 360 ring in full darkness. We do long exposures in the dark to “paint” with light. All the cameras are triggered simultaneously. The average exposure time is between 2 and 3 minutes. See the other fully animated 360° at http://24×360.com/patrick-rochon Model:...

I used my skills as a light painter to work on the idea of the light painting sculpture. I almost want to say a kinetic light sculpture because of the look and the feeling it gives, but in reality these are all movements done by hand in a studio on a black background with the...

For a while I’ve been thinking of shooting sports items and a sport concept with light energy using light painting. So I started doing some tests with the help Victorine Yokthot and Sylvain Lavoie. Sylvain built a black metal rack to hold up the shoe in different positions.

Full length promotional video (10 minutes): Excerpt from the interview with Camera Obscura: http://cameraobscura.busdraghi.net/2010/patrick-rochon/ While I was in Japan (1997-2008), I was introduced by photographer New York photographer Mark Higashino (http://www.mhpi.com/) to Itaru Sugita an art director and graphic designer. In 1998 I was passing by Itaru’s office in Tokyo to say hi, he was...
